Eligibility Requirements

**The 2023-2024 interview season will be virtual and interviews will be conducted October 2023 - February 2024. **

Sept. 6, 2023 -  Residency applicants may begin submitting MyERAS applications to programs at 9 a.m. ET.
Sept. 27, 2023 -  Residency programs may begin reviewing MyERAS applications and MSPEs data (if applicable) in the PDWS at 9 a.m. ET.
October 2023 -  UNC Health Southeastern FM Interview Season begins
February 2024 -  UNC Health Southeastern FM Interview Season closes
March 11-15, 2024 -  Match Week

Our minimum application criteria are listed below. Applicants must meet all requirements in order to be considered.

  1. Graduation from an accredited medical school within the last three years
  2. Successful completion of USMLE Steps 1 & 2 OR - COMLEX Steps 1 & 2 with no more than three combined failed attempts;
  3. U. S. citizenship - OR - be a U.S. permanent resident with a Green card (we do not sponsor or accept visas of any kind);
  4. If IMG, must have ECFMG certification -OR- be eligible for ECFMG certification immediately after graduation (certification required prior to matriculation)
  5. All applications submitted via ERAS. Application materials submitted via email, fax, mail or any online resource other than ERAS will not be accepted or reviewed.

Application Requirements

Eligible applicants must submit their applications to ERAS and include the following:

  1. Personal Statement
  2. Medical School Transcript
  3. USMLE or COMLEX Transcript
  4. At least three letters of recommendation in addition to a Dean’s Letter/MSPE.
  5. If IMG, ECFMG status report.

Photographs are appreciated, but not required.
