Our Residents
Our residents are not only some of the best and brightest, but they are energetic, engaged and happy. We value their input and encourage them to help shape the program. Each resident takes on a small job, resulting in an enormous cumulative effect on the program. They enjoy time together in and out of the hospital.
Our Faculty
For our faculty, teaching is a passion. Each with a niche area of expertise, our core faculty came to SRMC to help build something special. We build solid relationships with our residents through conference time and team-building activities.
Our Community
As a rural, racially diverse community, Lumberton is the poorest and unhealthiest county in NC. Our patient population comes with diverse medical and social pathology. We see an extremely high trauma volume, both blunt and penetrating, without a trauma team. We truly have a symbiotic relationship with our community. Our patients welcome residents participate in their care as we strive to improve the quality of care within the community.
Our Relationships
We are cultivating relationships with several partner organizations to enrich our program. As our affiliate medical school, Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) provides support to the residency with their faculty, facilities and library. Residents will experience first-class out rotations in Trauma and Toxicology at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in Charlotte. Through our collaboration with the Robeson Community College EMS program, residents engage in simulation labs, EMS lectures, and local EMS events. Our residents and attendings also participate in local disaster drills with Robeson County Emergency Services.
