On May 4, 81 golfers and sponsors raised over $30,000 for the UNC Health Southeastern Foundation’s 32nd annual Swing for Good Health Golf Tournament held at Pinecrest Country Club Golf Course near Lumberton, NC.  It was a beautiful day with 20 teams competing for cash prizes, special hole prizes, and one hole-in-one opportunity.

UNC Health Southeastern Foundation’s annual golf tournament provides financial assistance through the Horace E. Stacy, Jr., Academic Scholarship Endowment for medical, nursing, and allied health students in Robeson County and the surrounding region who are committed to serving our community in a health care career.  Mr. Stacy was a dedicated volunteer, past Foundation board chair and was instrumental in helping create the academic scholarship endowment to provide opportunities for local students to gain knowledge and learn skills that will help serve our community.

“Congratulations to our winners and our sincerest gratitude to our sponsors and supporters,” said UNC Health Southeastern Foundation Executive Director Sissy Grantham. “This tournament and many scholarships would not be possible without the local businesses and individuals participating as sponsors, prize donors, golfers and volunteers, understanding the value of those who have chosen to study medicine, nursing or allied health and who plan to return to our community to practice.”

The first-place winners, who posted a score of 55, were Ryan Bass, Allan Campbell, Mike Chuchacz and Brian Taylor.

The second-place winners, with a score of 55, were Daniel Terracciano, Max Weinstein, Luke Wheeler and Myers Coggin.

Chad Atkinson, Brian Haymore, Tray Martin and Jamie Locklear placed third with a score of 56.

Austin Locklear claimed the prize for closest to the pin on hole #12. The award for the longest drive on hole #3 went to Ryan Bass. The tournament provided players with an opportunity at a hole-in-one prize sponsored by Lumberton Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, however, there was no winner.

This event would not be possible without the support of local sponsors including both businesses and individuals.
