Annual Foundation Golf Tournament planned for June 2
On Thursday, June 2, golfers will come together to take a “Swing for Good Health” at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton, NC. UNC Health Southeastern Foundation will host its 31st annual golf tournament, presented by Ace Sponsors Robins & Morton and Revels Contracting Services, supporting the Horace E. Stacy, Jr., Academic Scholarship Endowment for students pursuing a career in the health care field.
Since the tournament’s inception in 1991, over $1 million in academic scholarship funds have been awarded by the Foundation. Support for the event provides funding for medical, nursing and allied health scholarships for residents of Robeson County and the surrounding region that are committed to the health of our community.
In 2020, the Foundation Board of Trustees renamed the endowment to honor esteemed Trustee Emeritus Horace E. Stacy, Jr., Academic Scholarship Endowment Chair, for his work to create the lasting endowment.
“Mr. Stacy believed there is nothing more important to a health system than the health care providers who work there,” said UNC Health Foundation Executive Director Sissy Grantham. “His passion to ensure necessary financial assistance to bring and keep those persons practicing health care in our community through the Academic Scholarship Endowment continues to guide our efforts.
