Vascular Treatments
UNC Health Southeastern offers you comprehensive services to treat conditions that affect your vascular (blood vessel) health. To protect your arteries or veins or improve blood flow, we may recommend:
- Bypass surgery for peripheral artery disease (PAD) – Surgery to reroute the blood supply around a blocked artery in your legs
- Endovascular therapy for PAD – Minimally invasive procedures done inside blood vessels that have become narrowed or blocked with plaque (fat) over time—a condition known as atherosclerosis
- Carotid endarterectomy – Surgical procedure to open and clean the carotid artery with the goal of stroke prevention
- Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) – Procedure to repair an aneurysm of the aorta
- Laser treatment of varicose veins – Procedure that uses heat from a thin laser to close and improve the look of swollen, bulging veins, usually on the legs
Hemodialysis access – Surgical procedure to create an opening in the body to quickly access the bloodstream for dialysis (treatment to filter waste from the body if your kidneys don’t work well)
