Troy Medicare Members Notice

Troy Medicare members should be advised of an upcoming change in their ability to use UNC Health, including UNC Health Southeastern and UNC Physicians Network providers and facilities.

UNC Health has decided to end its partnership with Troy Medicare. Unfortunately, that means Troy Medicare members will be out of network at all UNC Health locations beginning Jan. 1, 2025. We recognize that this change may be frustrating, but we wanted to give Troy Medicare members this information now so they can consider other plans that offer in-network access to UNC Health during this year’s open enrollment season (which runs Oct. 15 to Dec. 7).

To protect access to in-network care with UNC Health, Troy Medical members may want to consider these steps:

  • Use the open enrollment period to select traditional Medicare or a different Medicare Advantage plan. You can find other plans that UNC Health accepts at www.unchealth.org/records-insurance/insurance (scroll down to “UNC Health Southeastern” or “UNC Physicians Network” and click on the “+” sign).
  • Contact an insurance broker about coverage options that will allow you to maintain in-network access to UNC Health.
  • The N.C. Department of Insurance runs the Medicare and Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), which has counselors in all 100 counties who can help navigate the Medicare process. Visit www.ncdoi.gov/consumers/medicare-and-seniors-health-insurance-information-program-shiip or call 1-855-408-1212.
  • If you’re a UNC Health Southeastern or UNC Physicians Network patient and have further questions, you can email unchsoutheasterninfo@unchealth.unc.edu.

Thank you for trusting UNC Health with your healthcare needs!
