Saturday Morning Athlete Clinic Begins August 24
Beginning Saturday, Aug. 24, student athletes who have been injured during sporting events or practice on Thursdays or Fridays will have walk-in access to fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeons at UNC Health Urgent Care at Pembroke. The Saturday morning clinic is intended for bumps, bruises, and other types of sports-related injuries. Care will be provided by Orthopedic Surgeons Drs. James Slauterbeck and Temitope Adebayo of UNC Health Orthopedics at Southeastern Health Park.
“Offering this clinic enables our sports medicine team to be available to the community to offer specialized care in a convenient way that supports our young athletes,” says Dr. Slauterbeck.
Services include splinting, bracing, and casting, with onsite x-ray and access to urgent medical imaging services including MRI or CAT scan.
This service is in partnership with UNC Physicians Network and UNC Health Southeastern.
“We have worked to expand our Sports Medicine program recently with the addition of these two orthopedic surgeons and are ready to extend this service to the community as part of our commitment to getting athletes back in the game as quickly as possible,” said UNC Health Southeastern President/CEO Chris Ellington.
UNC Health Urgent Care at Pembroke is located at 923 W. Third St., Suite C, Pembroke. Athletes should check-in at 8 a.m. to be seen in order of arrival.
For any sports-related injury, athletes may request same or next-day appointments at UNC Health Orthopedics at Southeastern Health Park in Lumberton by calling (910) 738-1065.
