Meet Interventional Pain Management Specialist Dr. Abdou

Michael Abdou, MD

Michael Abdou, MD, an interventional pain management specialist, has joined UNC Health Pain Management at Southeastern Health Park and the medical staff of UNC Health Southeastern. He began his professional journey in Egypt, where he obtained formal training in orthopedics and spine surgery. Upon relocating to the United States, he expanded his expertise by completing additional training in general surgery, a residency in anesthesiology, and a fellowship in interventional pain management at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Abdou specializes in diagnosing and treating chronic pain through a range of minimally invasive techniques and procedures. From nerve blocks and injections to radiofrequency ablation, minimally invasive lumbar decompression, and spinal cord stimulation, he leverages a comprehensive toolkit to effectively manage and alleviate chronic pain. 

His diverse clinical background, along with his cultural understanding, enables him to establish meaningful connections with each patient and cultivate a wide network of trusted healthcare professionals across various disciplines.
