Lifting Temporary Age-Based Restrictions Effective April 9, 2024
Based on continued decreasing hospital admissions for influenza, RSV, and COVID-19, UNC Health Southeastern plans to lift the temporary age-based visitor restrictions that were implemented on January 3, 2024, for visitors ages 11 and younger effective Tuesday, April 9, 2024:
- UNC Health Southeastern has expanded visitation for the medical center, allowing two visitors at a time for non-COVID-19 patients while COVID-19 positive patients will be allowed one visitor per day.
- One visitor is allowed for Emergency Department patients.
- Laboring mothers are allowed two visitors, and two parents or legal guardians are allowed for minor patients. In both cases, one visitor will be allowed to remain with the patient after visiting hours have ended each day.
- Visitors aged 6 to 15 are allowed to visit when accompanied by an adult and for non-isolation patients only.
- Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to visit unless requested by the patient and/or immediate family member and approved by the charge nurse or administration. They also must be accompanied by an adult.
- Visitors are encouraged to wear a surgical grade face mask, which will be provided, if necessary, instead of cloth masks or face coverings while inside UNC Health Southeastern facilities. The mask must be worn correctly, covering nose and mouth, with the metal nose piece conforming to the bridge of the nose.
- Visitors with respiratory symptoms (cough, sneezing, runny nose, fever etc.) are discouraged from visiting. If a visit is inevitable, visitor must wear as mask for the duration of visit.
General visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., except where specific unit exceptions apply, such as Behavioral Health. All medical center visitors must present a valid photo I.D. and wear their visitor badge at all times.
