Meet Family Nurse Practitioner Farrin Freeman
Family Nurse Practitioner Farrin Freeman provides care at UNC Health Specialty Care at The Oaks. Before joining the practice, she worked as a registered nurse at UNC Health Southeastern’s Gibson Cancer Center for five years and in the medical center’s Clinical Decision Unit for two years. A native of Godwin, NC, Freeman’s special interests include preventative medicine along with treating the whole person.
“Health is a journey and ensuring that my patients are well in all areas of health is my goal,” said Freeman.
She completed an associates degree in nursing from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2015, a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Fayetteville State University in 2018, and a master’s degree in nursing-family nurse practitioner at UNC Wilmington in 2021.
“During my time at Gibson Cancer Center, I saw patients who lacked primary care services to guide and ensure that they had the appropriate screenings, so that disease could be prevented or detected early,” said Freeman. “This was a driving force behind choosing primary care as my specialty. I strive to provide a sense of comfort to my patients while they are visiting with me. I want my patients to know that they have a provider that genuinely cares about how they are feeling in the areas of mind, body and spirit. I want them to feel they have a provider that takes the time to discuss their health journey. I personally feel this is essential to provide personalized care to each patient.”
Freeman and her husband, Josh, live in Lumberton and enjoy spending time at the coast. Her personal hobbies include baking, and enjoying time with her cat, Cheeto. Christmas is her favorite time of the year.
