New SeHealth initiative connects patients with same-day primary care appointments

This month, Southeastern Health has started a new initiative designed to cut down on wait times for patients who need to make appointments with a SeHealth primary care provider as soon as possible.

Patients who call (910) 735-8889 will be guaranteed a scheduled appointment with a SeHealth primary care provider on the same day or the next day at the latest. The patient must be willing to travel to any SeHealth primary care clinic and would have to be willing to see any available provider.

“We always have a medical provider, within our network, who can see someone the same day,” said SeHealth’s Director of Physician Services Fordham Britt. “We want to make sure our patients understand this and have a direct number to call for same-day appointment needs. While this may not be the medical provider they see for routine matters, they will be able to assist with immediate health needs. Since all our providers use the same electronic medical record, the physician or advanced practice provider will have access to the patient’s medical history.”

SeHealth Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Strategy Officer David Sumner said this new initiative is designed to help patients who have busy schedules and have a pressing need for health services. It also fills a need for patients who may not have a primary care provider, but need one in a timely manner.

“We listened to our patients and we know how important it is for us to make scheduling a primary care appointment more convenient and accessible for them,” Sumner said. “Our expansive group of excellent providers have embraced this new concept and are also ready to help patients manage wellness visits and health screenings for their future visits.”
