Drive-thru COVID-19 screening site opened on Saturday

In preparation to begin drive-through screening on Saturday, March 21, for possible COVID-19 infections, on Friday Southeastern Health staff set up operations in the parking lot of the Southeastern Health Park, at 4901 Dawn Drive, Lumberton.

On Friday, staff also held practice runs to test logistics and flow for the site using medical supplies and tents donated by Lumberton Rescue Unit, which are being used throughout the screening site including as the nurse’s station, where on-site flu and strep results will be provided while patients wait in their cars. Patients who meet screening criteria, but test negative for flu and strep, will then have specimens collected for the COVID-19 test, which is performed off-site and will take several days to complete. Patients will be contacted by the North Carolina Health Department with the results of their COVID-19 test.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has also provided a medical command center bus for the site, from which safety and security for the site will be conducted.

Screening Reminders

What will it cost? Participants will be billed for an office visit as well as for strep and flu tests. There will be no charge for COVID-19 tests. Those with insurance should bring their insurance card.

Who can be screened? Robeson County residents and SeHealth patients age 18 and over. Participants will have to meet screening requirements related to travel, symptoms and negative flu and step tests in order to be eligible for COVID-19 testing sample collection.

Where is the screening site? Parking lot of Southeastern Health Park, located at 4901 Dawn Drive in Lumberton.

Hours: Monday thru Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm. Closed on Sundays.

Tips: Participants are encouraged to bring a mobile phone to be used for communication with the on-site assessment team as they move through the screening site. Participants will be required to remain in their vehicle. Smoking and the use of tobacco-related products will not be allowed on the property.
