Southeastern Regional Medical Center either hosts or sponsors the following support groups. Dates and times are subject to change without notice. Please call ahead to verify date, time and location of these meetings:
Alzheimer's Disease
For caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, this group meets the second Thursday each month at 6 p.m. in the dining room of WoodHaven Nursing and Alzheimer’s Care Center, 1150 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton. Call 671–5703 for more information.
Bereavement
For grieving individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one, this group meets for four weeks in the fall and spring. Sessions begin on the first Thursday of September and the first Thursday of January. Meetings are held each week at 6:30 p.m. at Southeastern Hospice House (1100 Pine Run Drive), Lumberton. Breast Cancer
Sisters Network, a support group primarily for African American women diagnosed with breast cancer, meets periodically at the Dr. A.J. Robinson Medical Clinic, 800 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Lumberton. Call 738–3175 for more information.
Cancer
Gibson Cancer Center sponsors support groups for individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers. The support group meets the first Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Obbie Lee Community Education Room at Gibson Cancer Center, 1200 Pine Run Dr., Lumberton. Diabetes Community Network
The Diabetes Community Center sponsors this meeting at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. This outreach group helps individuals with diabetes. For more information, call 671–5595.
Female Cancer
Gibson Cancer Center sponsors the Unique Surviving Sisters support group for women diagnosed with breast cancer and other cancers of the reproductive system. The support group meets the first Tuesday of each month at Noon at Gibson Cancer Center, 1200 Pine Run Dr., Lumberton. Call (910) 671–5768 for more information.
Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
This self–help group for persons recovering from drug addiction meets on Mondays at 8 p.m. at Southeastern Recovery Alternatives, 705-B Wesley Pines Rd., Lumberton. For more information, call 272-3030.
The Heart and Lungs Support Group
For people with heart disease, breathing problems and lung disorders, this group meets quarterly. Call 738–5403 for more information.
